Model-Based Design Products; New Building Industry Division Development Office To Open in

- Autodesk, Inc., (NASDAQ: ADSK), announced today that it has signed an agreement to
acquire the core development organization and selected assets of POINT Gruppen, AB, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of CAD-Q Holding AB, a leading provider of building industry
technology solutions in the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. Following the closing of
the agreement, which is expected on September 1, 2001, Autodesk will open a major, new
Building Industry Division development office in Borås, Sweden, dedicated to the
development of Autodesks global building industry platforms.
Were committed to expanding the global reach of our model-based design
solutions, said Phil Bernstein, FAIA, vice president of Autodesks Building
Industry Division. By leveraging POINT Gruppens in-depth knowledge of the
European building industry and expertise in developing model-based design solutions for
engineers, well accelerate our new building systems applications and will expand

International English in September 2001, shortly after the opening of the new development

Autodesks strategic alliance with POINT Gruppen dates back to last year (see prior
announcement, European POINT Gruppen Signs Development Agreement with
Autodesk, September 13, 2000) when a joint development agreement was signed that
enabled POINT Gruppen to collaborate with Autodesk on the development of core Building
Industry Division products.
By letting Autodesk acquire our core development organization, our future commitment
to Autodesks vertical strategy will be even stronger. We know that our customers
continually will ask for better model tools, and we strongly believe that Autodesk can

To protect customers investments, Autodesk will support both the development and

well as offices in the United States in Manchester, New Hampshire; Ithaca, New York; and
San Rafael and Alameda, California.
